Ceramics handmade in Basel

Susanne and Stephan Timbers produce handmade ceramics in small series as well as unique pieces in their Basel studio. Their works include classic utility ceramics as well as experimental pieces and figurines. The objects are created either on the potter's wheel or by hand-building with porcelain and stoneware clay.

A central feature of her work is the fact that the traces of the creation process remain visible: fingerprints, cut marks and the flow of the glazes are deliberately recognisable. The natural characteristics of the clay - its transparency, granularity, deformation and cracking during processing - also become part of the expression of her works.
